WARRENTON, VA-- The Virginia Gold Cup announced today that their website, www.vagoldcup.com, is ready for ticket orders for the upcoming 81st annual running of the Virginia Gold Cup. This year the Virginia Gold Cup takes place on Saturday, May 6 at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia. Gates open at 10 a.m. for pre-race entertainment with the first race scheduled for 1 p.m.

Last year, approximately 45,000 people gathered at the Great Meadow Events Center in The Plains, Virginia to socialize and watch some of the finest horses in the world compete over the lush green course. The setting is truly spectacular in the heart of Virginia horse country with the Blue Ridge Mountains serving as the backdrop.

This event has become a long-standing tradition and is attended by celebrities, local VIPs, Washington, DC politicians as well as visitors from around the world. Characterized by lavish tailgate spreads, sleek thoroughbreds and exciting hoof-pounding competition, steeplechase racing is said to combine the best of fast-action sports with a refined social setting. This is also an event where effective business networking takes place among many of the area’s top corporations and companies.

General admission car passes are $75 in advance, $85 week of race. A car pass admits one vehicle and six occupants. Sponsorship and hospitality packages are available, for more information call the Virginia Gold Cup Association at 540-347-2612 or visit us on the web at www.vagoldcup.com. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended. Children 12 years of age and under are admitted free with an adult. Great Meadow is only 50 minutes from Washington, DC.
