Last year, the United States Dressage Association (USDF) unveiled a new education grant program designed to reach under served member areas. Named the National Education Initiative (NEI), its main objective was to aid member organizations in the education of adult riders in the sport of dressage in areas where classically trained clinician were rare.
The Southwest Virginia Dressage Association (SWVADA) (swvada.org) is the geographically, largest and most rural geographic chapter of the Virginia Dressage Association. As such, classically trained dressage clinicians capable of teaching all the way up the levels are in short supply. The USDF awarded an NEI grant to SWVADA for a clinic on October 20, 2018, to be held at Flanagan Stables in Christiansburg, VA. (flanaganstables.com).
The clinician is Bruno Greber, certified instructor with the Swiss Professional Riders Association. Mr. Greber has been trained by some of the great European and American Dressage Masters, past and present such as: George Wahl, Klaus Krizisch, George Thoedorescu, Karl Phillipe, Arthur Kottas (former head rider for the Spanish Riding School, Vienna) Andreas Hausburger (current head rider for the Spanish Riding School, Vienna), George Williams, Robert Dover and others. All bastions of classical dressage.
Mr. Greber has experience teaching all levels of dressage with confidence and compassion, and with a wide variety of horse breeds. Riders must be adults (21 years old as of date of clinic) and USDF members. Auditors of all ages are FREE and encouraged to attend to learn more about classical dressage training.
