We've been blessed with a wonderful senior POA mare for 10 years and she has been a godsend to our family. She is a true gem and while she does occasionally remind us that she is a pony with her own mind, she is about as trustworthy as they come. Before we got her, she was rescued from the New Holland stockyard, foundered with a large tumor on her eye. She's been totally fantastic, one-eyed and all. We've managed her carefully and her feet have held up amazingly well. Both my girls (now 10 and 12) gained a TON of confidence on our Snowy, and I'm starting to plan ahead for her likely-impending retirement. She has set the bar high for us and we have been totally spoiled to have her in our family. I'm on the lookout for a fantastic pony who perhaps has been outgrown or whose child has moved on to other pursuits in the horse world. Or maybe a lesson horse who needs to scale back. My daughter is an advanced beginner (solid wtc and can trail ride completely independently) who has little to no desire to jump and much prefers trail rides and camping to showing and riding in a ring (but we'd still like the option to be there in case things change!) Active in local 4H and she loves to care for our horses. Doesn't need to be fancy, doesn't need to be pretty. Don't care about color or height (although Snowy is 12.3h and my daughter loves that she can mount from the ground on her own, we like small but bigger is fine too!). No preference on gender, we're good with both. More forward is fantastic, and what we're used to. Not intimidated by a peppy pace, but can't be spooky/buck/rear/bite/kick, etc. Prefer something with it's own motor to one who is a half mile behind on the trail, but honestly happy to consider anything with the right brain. Excellent home on our farm with experienced and knowledgeable caretakers, can accommodate many maintenance issues. Can't break the bank on purchase but prefer to invest over time in excellent nutrition and care. Pining for the days when ponies would be handed down to inspire the younger generation to pursue riding for sport and enjoyment. Our animals are part of our family and we'd likely be a forever home. We've lucked out once with an amazing wonder-pony and I'm hoping it will happen again. Do you have a great-minded, kind horse or pony who is looking for their next kid to love? Please email me and let's talk!
