Barn Manager



Position objective

Support the Director of Equine Operations in managing all aspects of equine / animal care as well as operations and maintenance of barn and riding ring at Double Wood Farm. Seeking a motivated self-starter who can work independently with little to no supervision and as part of a team. Individual understands how to work in a stressful environment, deals with feedback and communicates well with others. This position reports directly to the Director of Equine Operations.



Duties

Daily equine / animal care and barn operations, barn specific operations as assigned, assists in oversight of and scheduling of feeding plans as well as veterinary /farrier care, performs checks regarding the overall care, health and grooming of horses and animals, monitor the general health and well being of horses and animals. Serve as primary point of contact for barn when Director of Equine Operations is away. Provide necessary documentation and receipts for expenses in support of equine operations. Work with contractors, vendors, and guests as necessary to complete animal care and maintain efficient operations. Ensure appropriate maintenance of facilities to include barn, riding ring and surrounding grounds. Ensure measures are taken for safety and well being of individuals and animals. Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Background check

Complete related paperwork as provided

Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles, related equipment, and horse trailer

Understand and follow policies and procedures of Double Wood Farm and Double Wood Farm Operations

Maintain positive working relationship with other employees in equine department and farm operations unit.

Maintain positive working relationship with contractors and vendors

Basic knowledge and experience in working with horses

Understand physical requirements and needs of position





Preferred Requirements

Horsemanship experience

Computer skills

First aid and CPR



Education and experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Must be 18 years of age or older
