Dakota is a seasoned trail horse. We believe that he is a Tennessee Walker x Quarter Horse cross because of his looks and the fact that he does gait.

He recently completed a 30 day training/ tune-up course with Michael Alway of Alway Horsemanship Jan 2021- Feb 2021.

He is bold, has a lot of personality, knows how to move out, very responsive to leg pressure, Side-passes, yields the front and hind, backs, good brakes, W/T/C gaits and is confident and not spooky.

At 14.2 he is well suited for average and smaller sized riders but he has good bone and power. Current rider is 5'6" 125lbs.

Dakota is brave on the trail and makes a great leader but will also follow willingly. He will cross any obstacle, he has gone over bridges, through water, traffic safe, dog safe, atvs, deer, turkeys, bikes etc.

In the saddle he is responsive and will go where pointed, however he needs a confident rider because he likes to move out and has a lot of drive and work ethic. He currently rides in a D ring snaffle, rides English or Western.

On the ground he is behaved for vet, farrier, picks up his feet, fly spray, bathes, grooms, ties, loads, and is easy to catch. He can be a little pushy (we like to call it oblivious) on the ground or when leading and needs someone to help him with expectations. He is very sweet and highly intelligent.

Dakota is free of spook, scar, injury or illness. He had his teeth floated recently and has had regular veterinary checks, and farrier visits. He is currently barefoot and has great hoof health. He is an easy keeper.

Give him a job because he loves to work and needs an athletic lifestyle. On the trail he leads or follows, goes by himself or with group direct reins but we started training him to neck rein, with a little more work he will get it.

He needs to be in a gelding only pasture, despite being a gelding he gets attached to mares and becomes buddy sour. With other geldings he gets along well.
