***UPDATE***: Buddy participated in his first USEA recognized horse trial at Hunt Club Farms on May 15, 2021 and came in 4th out of 23 entries in his division, narrowly missing 3rd place. He moved up to 3rd place for the amateur's in the division, as the second placed rider is a professional. Therefore, he achieved a qualifying score for the AEC's on his first outing!

Introducing Loughnatousa Royal Flush, aka "Buddy," a rising 7 year old 16 hand ½" hh imported from Ireland Traditional Irish Sport Horse, who is of a stocky build and takes up a lot of leg. Buddy was purchased from his breeder and initial trainer Paul Beecher, winner of the world's toughest Jumper Derby, the Hickstead Derby. Paul brought him along very carefully and slowly, in an effort to allow him to grow, and had only ridden him for a total of 7 months at his time of purchase as a 5.5 year old. He hunted a bunch of times there and attended five schooling SJ shows. Due to no fault of his own, Buddy has not competed in recognized shows and events since his arrival in the states, as his owner was in a car accident which necessitated 3 very involved hip surgeries.

Buddy has been in consistent training for five months now, and is really coming into his own. He has been to six unrecognized shows/events with good results. Buddy went to a jumper show at Hunt Club on Saturday 3.6.21 and came in second in BN and N, only because I did not go for time, and then did the BN Derby X at Loch Moy on 3.7.21 as a "test horse" to help set up their new computer programs for scoring, and he jumped clean with ease. We stayed for a schooling session afterwards and did all things novice, which was a piece of cake for him, and then schooled a bunch of Training and Modified elements as well with ease. I unfortunately failed miserably at "walking" the courses, and don't think I will be able to handle any more than a BN 3 phase for quite some time though! (Walking long distance is still a serious problem for me...) Buddy also packed around a beginner at a jumper show at Hunt Club on 3.22.21, and did a starter HT towards the end of March. He attended Loch Moy's first twilight eventing of the year finishing on his dressage score and jumping clean. On 4/11/21, he went to an unrecognized jumper show and was Champion of the 3' jumpers.

Buddy is regrettably offered for sale as I have decided that he is just too wide for my new hip joints, and I can't tolerate riding him more than 3 days a week. I also simply cannot tolerate jumping above 3', so I won't be able to show off his potential over jumps until my hips heal up some more. He was purchased to be my ** - *** eventer, and high AA/amateur owner jumper @1.20M (he can double in both horse sports), and he should easily be able to do both of these jobs in competition someday. He has a lot of "blood" and is bred to handle big and long tracks, as he comes from the famous King of Diamond and Clover Hill lines. He is a wonderful size, as tall riders don't look too big on him (Paul is 6'1", as shown in the video below), and small riders don't feel like they are riding a giant warmblood.

Buddy is one of those atypical horses who can be a safe horse for a green rider over x rails to 2'3" jumps in an arena (literally, you can jump up his neck and sit on his ears and he still jumps, or he can be caught in the mouth, and will still jump every jump after that mishap), or be a serious contender for the win in a jump off for a professional rider over bigger jumps. He will jump on serious angles, and can be quick and fast when asked, but he will also go like a slow poke over little jumps if left to his own devices. Buddy's daisy cutting movement and round jump with tidy knees, along with having his changes (when asked) could land him in the hunter ring or as an equitation horse as well. He hacks out well on his own or in company. He has recently been xc schooled at four competition venues including Loch Moy three times (including some Modified level jumps) and Hunt Club farms, and has schooled over jumps at three hunter venues as well.

Buddy has super smooth gaits, and is super easy to handle on the ground in all ways, as he gets along with all people and all horses, hence his name! He self-loads into trailers, will stand inside a trailer or tied to a trailer all day by himself, and serves as a babysitter on my farm and as a lead horse during xc schooling and SJ sessions for less experienced horses. He can live outside or inside 24-7 without any complaints. He is the epitome of the Staples "Easy Button!"
