With a host of top name horse professionals on hand at the 4th annual Virginia Equine Extravaganza this year’s event is pulling out all stops to be the best yet.
Heading up this all star line-up are Olympian icons Steffen Peters (dressage) and Phillip Dutton (eventing), along with all time favorites Charles Wilhelm, Ken McNabb, Julie Goodnight, Australian dressage judge and Victoria Vaulting President Colleen Kelly, rising hunter-jumper star Michael Tokaruk and more than 30 other horse pros and entertainers. This line up is sure to appeal to everyone from the serious dressage competitor to the novice vaulter, to the young eventer or the green reiner or cutter,” said show producer Vicki O’Hara. "We have some of the top talent in the industry presenting over 140 clinics, demonstrations and seminars, ensuring that there is indeed something for everyone."
The Virginia show follows closely behind the highly successful first annual North Carolina Equine Extravaganza in Raleigh. “Understanding that there is no “average” horse owner is key to the success of the Equine Extravaganza formula. O’Hara explains “It is important that we ensure a program which includes plenty of variety for all ages and levels of interest as well as the different disciplines.”
A large draw at the Virginia show is the highly anticipated “East Coast Trainer Challenge” sponsored by VAnimalID.info. Ed Dabney of Monroe, GA, winner of the North Carolina Trainer Challenge, sponsored by Rockin J Horse Stalls, will face off with fellow trainers Kenny Harlow and Bob Jeffreys. This "low-stress" colt starting competition gives the audience a chance to see the exceptional training skills of the participants while taking part in selecting the winner.
The Trainer Challenge isn’t the only thrilling competition at this year’s event. For the 2nd year in a row the Equine Extravaganza is proud to host the exciting Founder’s Cup Mounted Games Challenge sponsored by Mounted Games Across America, Inc.. This fast-paced games competition features the four top finishing Advanced Pairs mounted games teams from the 2007 United States Pony Club National Championships. These teams will compete on both Saturday and Sunday.
Attendees can also see the culmination of the national quest for equine talent as the overall winner of America’s Horse Idol is crowned on Saturday evening at the competition’s national finals. Winners from previous competitions will gather in VA to strut their stuff. “The North Carolina Horse Idol winner, an extraordinarily talented appaloosa mule named Rocky, whose jaw-dropping leap into the back of a pick up truck amazed the crowd, takes the competition to new heights”, O’Hara said.
Between the shopping, the seminars, the roundtable discussions, the demonstrations, the entertainment, and the company of thousands of people that share a passion for horses, the Equine Extravaganza is a no-brainer destination for all horse enthusiasts!
