LOCAL BARNS AND GROUPS TO PARTICIPATE IN ULCERGARD BARN NIGHT COMPETITION AT THE WAHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW

Phone:
Date Added: 9/28/2007

Each year the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) invites groups from local barns and organizations to compete for top prizes at the Thursday Barn Night! This year's Barn Night is sponsored by Merial, the maker of ULCERGARD® (omeprazole), the only FDA-approved product proven to prevent stomach ulcers in horses. ULCERGARD Barn Night is one of the most popular events of the WIHS and will draw thousands of horse enthusiasts from the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia regions.

New this year are four contests that take place prior to the start of ULCERGARD Barn Night. Competitors can get a jump on the fun by entering the "Name the Mascot Contest," "Create a WIHS Derby Hat Contest," "Essay Contest" and "Design a Ring Wall Banner Contest." Entry forms, which can be downloaded from http://www.wihs.org/event/special_barn.cfm, must be sent to the WIHS Office and postmarked by September 30, 2007.

Events and contests taking place during the evening of ULCERGARD Barn Night are the "Grand Champion Barn" contest, the Kawasaki Mule giveaway and the announcement of the four new contest winners. The "Grand Champion Barn" title will be awarded to the group who has the highest number of participants and best demonstrates spirit, creativity and enthusiasm. Groups will win chances for the Kawasaki Mule giveaway based on the number of attendees in their group. One chance will be entered for every 10 participants in a group.

In addition to the Kawasaki Mule, prizes for the 2007 ULCERGARD Barn Night include four muck buckets full of barn and stable supplies (over $500 value each), courtesy of The Loft at Meadowbrook, and a custom made saddle cleaning stand from Georgetown Stable Outfitters. Competitors will also have the chance to win random giveaways throughout the evening.

To add to the evening's festivities, attendees are invited to walk the Gambler's Choice course with select riders, garner rider autographs and win a variety of prizes and merchandise.
