THE WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW ANNOUNCES 2007 HUNTER DIVISION WINNERS

The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization benefiting local and national charities, announced today the seven hunter division Champions. The following divisions competed over a two day span for the titles of Champion and Reserve Champion: Regular Working Hunter, Regular Conformation Hunter, First Year Green Hunter, Second Year Green Hunter, Green Conformation Hunter, Amateur Owner Hunter (18-35 years) and Amateur Owner Hunter (over 35).

Division leaders at the end of day-one of competition were Allejandro, ridden by Tim Goguen, and Scout, ridden by John French, in the First Year Green Working Hunter Division. Junior rider Addison Phillips, aboard Castle, led the Second Year Green Working Hunters, along with Jennifer Alfano and Rock Star. After points were totaled, Scout and John French held onto their lead and were named the Champion of the First Year Green Working Hunters division while Castle and Addison Philips clinched the Second Year Green Working Hunter division.. Hard Rock and Jennifer Alfano also had a strong final ride, which secured the Reserve Championship for the duo.

Kingston, ridden by Juliana Johnson, rose to the occasion on Wednesday, taking the division champion title of the Amateur Owner Hunter (18-35 years), while Rachel Geiger, riding Aeropostale, captured the Reserve Championship. Topping the field in the Amateur Owner Hunter (over 35) was Mombo, ridden by Maria L. Takocs. Tammy Chipko earned the Reserve Champion title aboard All That. The Regular Working Hunter Championship was awarded to Brunello and Elizabeth Towell-Boyd. The Regular Conformation Hunter Championship went to Highland Park and Scott Stewart, while Sting and Jennifer Alfano topped off the Green Conformation Hunters.

With the completion of the hunter divisions, additional awards were presented for the overall Grand Champion Hunter which was awarded to Highland Park ridden by Scott Stewart and the Grand Champion Amateur Owner Hunter Award, which is the overall leader of both the younger and older divisions, presented to Maria L. Takocs, riding Mombo. The Leading Hunter Rider Award, given to the leading rider over each of the seven divisions, was awarded to John French and Leading Amateur Owner Hunter Award was given to Maria L. Takocs.

While seven hunter division titles have already been awarded, the Junior Hunters will take the stage on Friday, October 12 with the Pony Hunter divisions getting underway on Saturday, October 13th.
