Hello Again! The Barn Faeries have some money-saving ideas to share
with you this week, just in time for the upcoming holiday season.

* Need handy storage for small grooming supplies? Save a large coffee
can with a plastic lid, give it a good scrub (and a coat of rust
resistant paint if you're feeling ambitious!), and you have a neat
container for mane combs, hoof picks, braiding supplies, etc. Just be
sure there are no sharp edges left by the can-opener!

* Inexpensive plastic totes are wonderful storage containers for
"pony clothes" -- clean blankets, sheets, fly masks, tail bags.
Instead of marking the container permanently, make a list of the
current contents, pop it in a zip-top plastic bag and tape it on the
most easily visible part of the container. That way if you decide to
use the tote to store different items later, you won't have an
incorrect label to worry with.

* Shampoos and conditioners labeled for horse can be expensive!
Watch for sales of "people" hair products to use instead. Although
adverse reactions are very rare, be sure to test the product on just
a small patch of your horse's coat and wait 24 hours before bathing
the whole horse. Don't use the product if you see any redness, bumps
or other changes to the skin... or if the hair changes color (unless
you think your horse is pretty in pink!).

Save those dollars (they add up fast) so you can buy more treats and
toys for your special horse!
