Large Cash Giveaway for Local-Level Horse Show Competition in Virginia’s Hunt Country

MIDDLEBURG, VIRGINIA (October 1, 2008) Fox Chase Farm, an equestrian events center in Middleburg, VA that specializes in clinics and horse shows, presented 11 winners with a total of $12,000 at the 2008 Timothy C. Hanley Memorial Horse Show Series.

The series, in its 3rd year, is the first to change the face of the local horse show community by awarding large cash giveaways at local horse shows since 2006.

"Congratulations to all the exhibitors for all their hard work and dedication,” says Maureen Hanley, director of Fox Chase Farm, "and thank you to our sponsors, riders and trainers who support our show series!”

Prize money was awarded to the overall Top 3 riders in the horse shows on September 13. First place overall and $1,500 went to Carly Ziegler, second place and $750 went to Amy Chipman, and third place and $375 was Katie Juncal.

The Top 3 riders in the pony shows were awarded at the final show and year-end party on September 27. First place overall and $1,500 went to Kaitlin Lertora. Kaitlin was also the winner of the Timothy C. Hanley Memorial trophy for being the highest point rider for the entire series. Second place, and $750 Kirklen Petersen, third place and $375, for the second time in two weeks, Katie Juncal.

The area’s Top 5 trainers and coaches were also winners! Robin DeVaux of Leesburg, VA won 1st place trainer, $3,000 and a trip to the beach courtesy of Suburban Oasis. Fay Strasel of Aldie, VA was second place and won $2,000. Third place and $1,000 was Sue Buscher of Catharpin, Virginia. $500 was awarded to Melynda Legg of Gainesville, VA, and 5th place and $250 to Ann DeMichele of Leesburg, Virginia.

Top riders and trainers were also presented with special sponsor awards and ribbons. Other winners included year-end division winners with special ribbons, and prizes.

“We understand the importance of non-rated shows as an introduction to the world of competition", says Maureen Hanley, Director of Fox Chase Farm and former Board Member of the Washington International Horse Show, "As such, we wanted to offer something unique for our community of devoted horse enthusiasts, a reward for their countless hours of hard work and dedication to their sport and their horses.”

Fox Chase Farm was recently named a finalist for Small Business of the Year, a year after winning the coveted Agricultural/ Equine Business of the Year in 2007 from the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce. The farm is also winner of the Top 10 Horse Show Awards, for the last three years from the Virginia Horse Show Association.

The next show starts January 10, 2009 with a horse show in the indoor arena and an exciting new affiliation with the national U.S. Hunter Jumper Association and prize money in the amount of $20,000.
