Middleburg, VA – June 15, 2009 – Fox Chase Farm, based in Middleburg, VA, is pleased to announce that the $20,000 TCH Fox Chase Hunter Show Series has named the finalists for the United States Hunter Jumper Association’s Affiliate Sportsmanship Awards Program.

“Fox Chase Farm is so proud to announce the finalists for this great program!” stated Maureen Hanley, Director of Operations of Fox Chase Farm, LLC. “The USHJA always have the interests of their equestrians and horses in mind. Our show exhibitors are given the opportunity to have national exposure and recognition for their many talents.”

Finalists for the USHJA Awards Program are judged on sportsmanship, horsemanship and turnout of horse and rider. Finalists continue to be judged until they submit the required materials to Fox Chase Farm by July 15th.

The finalists are:
Junior Rider: Kaitlin Lertora, Kirklen Petersen, Many Cassells
Adult Rider: Katie Gordon, Anne Duckworth, Heather Trujillo
Professional: Denise Finch, Jenna Wilson Steinfurth, Tiffany Catledge
Coach/Trainer/Riding Instructor: Virginia Wilbrandt, Robin DeVaux, Melynda Legg, Judith DeMichele, Robyn Johnson

The USHJA is the national affiliate for hunters and jumpers, and is committed to advancing and representing the hunter and jumper disciplines by fostering an educated community of equestrians that promotes the welfare of the horse and fairness in competition. Fox Chase Farm Horse Show Series was named an affiliate of the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) in December 2008. It is the first non-rated show series in the nation to be affiliated with the organization.
The goal of the USHJA Affiliate Sportsmanship Awards Program is to recognize outstanding juniors, amateurs, professional riders, and riding instructors who exemplify good horsemanship, sportsmanship and integrity for the sport and exhibitors. Each affiliate organization's award winners will be selected by the individual criteria based on the choice of each affiliate.
Fox Chase Farm will announce the winners of each category on August 1, 2009. Those winners will be submitted to the USHJA to compete in the Regional Affiliate Awards, consisting of one amateur, junior, professional, and riding instructor from each region.
The Fox Chase Farm Horse Show Series is an annual non-rated show circuit for local equestrians. The farm hosts two shows a month until late September and the high-point competitors are honored at the series’ year-end party and exciting suprizes, such as a special cake delivery from the ACE OF CAKES from the Food Network on September 26th! In addition, a total of $20,000 in prize money will be awarded to the series’ leading horses and riders.

“We strive to make our local show series the best in the area,” commented Hanley. “In addition to all of the exciting awards and prize money, we want to provide our exhibitors with the same competition quality as nationally rated shows. We want our exhibitors to benefit from their experience at Fox Chase Farm and feel prepared to advance to the next level.”

“We are very excited for the local equestrians,” Hanley noted, “and we are proud of the fact that Fox Chase Farm is the first show in the area to get our local equestrians recognized for their talents on a national level!”
