My Name is Angel: True Life Adventures of a Lady Donkey
Just in time for Christmas! A white donkey from northern Virginia has written an adorable children’s book and tells how she went on a great adventure and found a wonderful horse friend. She told her story to Penny Loeb, a longtime journalist and author, and lifetime horse owner.
A large portion of the proceeds go to equine rescue groups, starting with The Gingersnap Girls Equine Education & Rescue Foundation of Hamilton. On EBay part of profits go to Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Maryland and the Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society in Texas. Purchasers of the book on Amazon can email Penny at cfdodge@msn.com to designate another rescue group.
Angel was born on a farm in Amissville where she lived with camels, zebras, water buffalo and other more exotic creatures. Her first book recounts her trip to her new home. Readers have already requested sequels, and reviewers have been impressed: “A charming book that details the love of a little donkey for a horse and his master,” wrote Beth Lucas in the Loudoun Times-Mirror. “This sweet and true story, suitable for reading to very young children, comes complete with a moral: looks aren’t as important as heart,” wrote Lauren R. Giannini in Middleburg Life.
Angel is reporting donations to rescue groups on her blogs ($200 so far to Gingersnap Girls) Follow her on http://angel-ears.livejournal.com http://angel-ears.typepad.com and Facebook (Angel the Lady Donkey)
