Virginia equine attorney, Bruce R. Smith, will offer a free one hour seminar entitled Legal Issues Affecting Horse and Farm Owners at Tri-County Feeds in Marshall, VA. Among the topics to be discussed are:

-- Landowners' legal duties;
-- Liability prevention;
-- Preventing and respond to trespassing;
-- Boarding and lease arrangements;
-- LLC's and other equine business forms;
-- Tax law changes; and
-- Zoning and environmental issues affecting farm owners.

Mr. Smith will discuss the topics that are particularly relevant to farm owners. He explained that, "I find that many horse owners and farm owners worry about liability issues but they do not understand what they should be doing to address those issues and protect themselves. Since the economy is really tough right now many people are trying to get income from boarding arrangements and pasture leases. There are specific things people can do to ensure that they will get paid and to reduce the risk of expensive legal problems down the road."

Attendees will have an opportunity to have their questions answered by an experienced attorney.
Mr. Smith is a popular speaker and has been a presenter at various horse conferences including Equine Extravaganza and the National Equine Law Conference. At this year's National Equine Law Conference in Lexington, Kentucky in late April he will be presenting on Fraud in Equine Sale Transactions.

Mr. Smith has his own law practice located in Fairfax County. He is a horse owner himself and for over fifteen years he has represented horse farms, breeders, riders and trainers in racing, showing and a variety of other equine pursuits. Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and is a former partner in the Lexington, Kentucky office of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP. He is licensed in Virginia and Kentucky.

Seating for this seminar is limited, if you would like to attend this informative seminar please register by contacting Mr. Smith's office by phone at 703-750-2651 or by email at brucesmithlaw@aol.com. Mr. Smith's website is: www. brucesmithlaw.com
