After 12,000 miles, long distance Argentine rider Eduardo Díscoli, is currently resting his four horses in Northern Virginia. The lawyer and polo player left Buenos Aires nearly four years on a journey to pay homage to the Latin-American horse by riding back to its origins in North Africa - via New York! You can meet this equestrian icon and his brave and enduring horses at the American Vaulting Association’s Region IX Championships on Saturday, July 16. Vaulters from up and down the east coast will demonstrate their equestrian art for Mr. Discoli and the public July 15 – 17 at Frying Pan Park in Herndon in western Fairfax County, Virginia near Dulles Airport.

The East Coast’s equestrian vaulting community, which has assisted Mr. Discoli since his trek through North Carolina, will host a drawing on Saturday to support his efforts. Ticket sales, $25/ticket, begin at 8 AM on Friday at the vaulting championships and conclude with a drawing at 4:30 PM on Saturday in the covered arena.

The winner of the drawing will adopt the chestnut filly Salsita, beautiful daughter of Geronimo, a western Mustang and Discoli’s mount since Texas. The filly and Geronimo were graciously donated by Ms. Virginia Castro of Blanco, Texas. Salsita was foaled in March of 2005 and is eligible for registry with the North American Mustang Association & Registry and the American Indian Horse Registry as a ½ mustang. A Coggins, health certificate, and Pedigree Certificate will accompany the filly.
