September 19, 2011: Middleburg, Virginia....

As we approach the end of our show season, Fox Chase Farm is gearing up for year-end award season by announcing a few winners before the final shows in October.

On September 15, 2011 (the 11th anniversary of Fox Chase Farm, LLC) we announced The United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA)winners. They are: Junior - Hannah Taylor of Lovettsville, VA, Amateur - Danielle Finch of Falls Church, VA, Professional - Sue Buscher of Gainsville, VA, and Riding instructor - Robin DeVaux of Leesburg, Virginia.

Today, we've decided on the winner of the highest award at Fox Chase Farm which is the Timothy C. Hanley Memorial Award for Overall Excellence in Sportsmanship and Horsemanship, named in honor of my father.

Every year, we look at each individual who attends the T.C.H. Fox Chase Hunter Shows to see who captures our attention. We look for an individual who is not only a good horse person, but who is helpful to others, cares about their sport and who especially cares about their horse and/or pony. This person can be a trainer or rider. They know when their horse has done well for them, and knows what is best for the horse. They also understand that sportsmanship and horsemanship are the most important thing and winning isn't everything.

This year it was very difficult to make a decision with such a great bunch from which to choose. Ultimately, we decided to go with TWO people who share equally in this honor. These two individuals have demonstrated all the qualities we look for. They happen to be sisters and even though they have competed against each other this year, each one really cares about the other, cheering each other on and sharing equal happiness for their friends and competitors. They also show exceptional care and love for their horses and ponies.

Mr. Hanley, my father and founder of Fox Chase Farm, would agree that these two exceptional sisters clearly exhibit the qualities we look for in a winner and have caught our attention this year!
Congratulations to sisters Mackenzie and Meghann Harmon of Middleburg, Virginia for being the winners of the Timothy C. Hanley Memorial Award for Overall Excellence at the Fox Chase Farm Hunter Show Series!

Join us for the final year-end divisions awards and presentation for all awards at the T.C.H Fox Chase Hunter show season, on October 15th and October 23rd, the final two shows of the season.
