Join Dr. Caroline Loos, PhD from the University of Kentucky on demystifying protein and what the latest research says about this macro nutrient and how it can affect your horse. This event will take place in the Media Room at the Marion Dupont Scott Equine Medical Center.
Dr. Caroline will break down the science and make it easily digestible (pardon the pun!) to the average person. She will go over the latest updates regarding protein feeding in the equine diet, including:
-What is the role of protein in the body and how is it digested?
-What exactly are essential amino acids and where is protein found in the equine diet?
-What is the difference between protein quantity vs. quality?
-Concerns and trends regarding protein and the consequences of overfeeding it
-Research updates: The role of protein in the pathology of equine insulin dysregulation
