The aim of this clinic is to help riders master good cross-country riding skills and to allow horses to have a pipe-opener on excellent footing at a time of year when the ground is hard. This will be a perfect warm-up for the Virginia Horse Trials!

Making use of the 1600 meter galloping track at Oakhill Farm, learn the following:

  • How to balance yourself and your horse at speed
  • Techniques for controlling your horse and maintaining a rhythm
  • How to gauge your speed, appropriate to your level of competition
    and then:
  • Enjoy a timed gallop around the track appropriate to your level
  • Have your horse's heart rate tested by Dr. Addison on completion of the gallop and then again after an appropriate recovery period

    This clinic will be informative and lots of fun, not just for current eventers, but for anyone who enjoys cross country riding.
