NOTE: The program is limited to the first 20 people who sign up. Please wear clothing appropriate for being outside and working around horses, including close-toed shoes.
Presentations will include some lectures and demonstrations on equine behavior and handling as well as veterinary considerations during an emergency. This will be followed by hands-on practice approaching, catching, leading, and releasing horses both in stalls and an open area. After lunch, a lecture on basic equine first aid will be presented. The remainder of the afternoon will include hands on practice with equine first aid, trailer safety and considerations, and more advanced handling. Future training will be made available and will cover more advanced emergency and disaster preparation.
