The Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a Healthy Horses and a Healthier Chesapeake Bay Seminar on January 28th, 2010 featuring guest speaker Alayne Blickle of Washington State-based “Horses for Clean Water” and contributing writer for magazines “Equus”, “The Northwest Horse Source”, and “John Lyons’ The Perfect Horse”!

Information and Updates on the Chesapeake Bay-Friendly Horse Farm Project
Whys and Ways to Slowly Feed Hay
Making Conservation Work: Local Horse Owners Share Their Opinions and Experiences with Incorporating Common Conservation Practices.
Come meet other horse owners who have similar goals as you do for your farm/farmette! You will also have an opportunity to talk to your local Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) including John Marshall SWCD from Fauquier County, Loudoun SWCD from Loudoun County, Northern Virginia SWCD from Fairfax County, and Prince William SWCD from Prince William County. Soil and Water Conservation Districts are here to help you with your horse property/farm at no cost to you and without imposing regulations. Additional agencies supporting this seminar are available to provide you with free technical assistance, include the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and The Middleburg Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
The seminar takes place at the MARE Center, 5527 Sullivans Mill Road, Middleburg, VA from 9:30-3:30. Cost for the seminar is $15/person, which includes coffee, lunch, raffle prizes, and handouts.
