The Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program (NVTRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with disabilities, youth-at-risk, and veterans through the challenging, physically-active sport of horseback riding.
As a volunteer, we ask that you commit up to 4 hours per week to assist with riding lessons, as a side walker or leader and with barn chores. Lessons are held 7 days a week. Most of our weekday lessons are 4 pm to 8 pm but we also offer lessons a few mornings each week. Weekend lessons are held in the morning and afternoon. We ask that you make a commitment to come one day per week for the entire session. If this is too much of a time commitment, you can get trained and then be on our substitute list. Our Spring Session starts March 8 and goes until late June.
All volunteers must attend a training class prior to helping with lessons and be at least 14 years of age. Horse experience is helpful but not at all necessary.
