Looking to try out a new horse sport? Ever wanted to try playing equestrian mounted games?
Join us for Blue Ridge Games.
Augusta Expoland - Fishersville, VA
June 5/6 (pre registry required)
Divisions offered for all ages, skill and experience levels.
BRG offers an Affordable, Fun and Social experience.
Western, English, Endurance, Polo, Joust, Hunt, Trail and any other type of rider is welcome to join us.
Equestrian Mounted Games is similar to gymkhana, western speed events and Pony Club games. It is run in relay race format. Unlike western speed where riders race a clock, in Mounted Games riders race each other with up to 5 teams racing in unison. Completion order is determined by who crosses the finish line first. English saddles tend to be the preferred option but western, Australian, endurance, and trail saddles are welcome as well. Your typical games mount can be an older back yard pony as well as your hunter mount, barrel pony, trail horse or any other equine with a willingness to try. Riders will take part in 10-15 races per session. these races include a version of pole bending, races that require riders to pick things up off of barrels, hand batons to their partner, dismount and remount (adult and young children are welcome to have assistance when mounting if needed), etc. quite a few videos can be viewed on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/user/Kristashine.
BRG is set up for the experienced gamer as well as those new to the sport. Saturday morning clinics are offered for both children and adults that are new to the sport or want to brush up on skills. riders will also take part in a competition session Saturday afternoon and again Sunday morning. Those opting out of the clinic will participate in a morning competition session instead. call or email the contacts listed at the bottom for details.
This is a pairs competition. Riders can enter with a partner or sign up as an individual to be paired with another rider. On site camping is free of charge. Stalls are available or portable paddocks can be used. Saturday night a social potluck will be held on site, followed by marshmallow roasting. All competitors will receive a prize upon completion. Please keep in mind that pre-registry is required.
