Arlyn DeCicco approaches the training of horse and rider from an anatomical standpoint that results in sound riders and sound horses that are light, happy and attentive. With 40 years' experience working with top hunter/jumper, dressage, and eventing horses, Arlyn's method of Balanced Equine Training develops the horse's musculature in a way that maximizes potential while reducing the propensity for injury.
As a trainer of trainers, she has helped top level competitors that include Grand Prix and World Cup riders Mandy Porter and Joie Gatlin. However, her methods are not just limited to trainers. Her methods apply to all horses and riders, and she has delivered individualized advice to countless riders at different levels in order to help them achieve their goals.
Arlyn's understanding of anatomy and physical fitness is applied to both horse and rider to stretch, supple, and strengthen, making each ride more responsive and controlled. As one loyal client puts it best: "The transformation in horse and rider is seen and felt in every lesson."
Testimonials:
"She has a special feel for the horse, an intuitive knowledge of how their minds and bodies work as well as years and years of experience. She's a huge part of Sun Cal’s King having the best year of his career." - Darren "Dagwood" Roberts, Joie Gatlin's Stable Manager
"Arlyn considers the well-being of the whole horse, and the reward is a whole horse." - Mandy Porter, World Cup rider and trainer of the 2006 PCHA Horse of the Year, Summer
"I am not a trainer and I do not ride. I do understand mechanics and the horse's movement. Watching Arlyn ride is classical. The way she is able to get a horse to soften and collect. She doesn't force; she flows with the horse. She’s like watching poetry; it's comfortable. Feeling a horse after Arlyn has suppled them up properly is amazing. She teaches the horse how to use its body properly." - Dino Fretterd, Dino's B.E.S.T., Equine Body Worker
